About us Cross Stitch Crazee Kits began in October 1997. The initial ranges were made available to Gauteng, South African shops in June 1998. The Cross Stitch Crazee range of counted cross stitch kits caters for beginners, intermediate and advanced cross stitchers. The stitched size of finished articles ranges from the very small Cub Beetle, 19x19 stitches (3.4x3.4cm) to the large Animal Alphabet, 212x226 stitches (38.5x41cm) in 14-count Aida. Our first designs were called CUB KITS with kids and first time cross stitchers in mind. CARD KITS were specially developed for those stitchers wanting to make personalised cards for every occassion. BOOKMARK KITS are quick, fun projects, and the finished article is used by avid bible and book readers. CHRISTMAS KITS for card, tree and table decorations, etc. HOUSES, SOLAR, FLOWERS and JUST FOR FUN ranges were created to be stitched in sets of 6 or more, and are used in coasters, hoops or larger cards. As an adoring fan of bears of all kinds, TEDDY BEAR kits became a firm favourite of mine, as well as customers alike. FAIRY & GOBLIN KITS joined the range as a result of numerous requests from shops in the Johannesburg area. The ANIMALS range was created for fans of our furry friends. COTTAGES are a colourful addition to the range. The SAMPLERS range is to record your special memories in cross stitch. Other quick project ranges such as KEYRINGS and FRIDGE MAGNETS have been created just for the fun of it. When stitched up, they make quick inexpensive gifts.
THE DESIGNER Avryl Ramsden began her cross stitch career at the age of 9, completing pre-printed cross stitch tray cloths with ease. Prior to that she learnt to knit at the age of 4. Right from those early days, there has always been a needlework project of one type or another on the go. Before Cross Stitch Crazee began, Avryl took pride in completing the most complicated cross stitch charts. Paula Vaughan, Design Works and Dimension kits and charts being her favourites. Although she does not have much time to stitch for herself, she occasionally takes time out to make another mohair bear to add to her collection.
While living in South Africa, Cross Stitch Crazee made regular contributions to South African magazines, example, "Talking Threads", "Felines"..
In January 2003, Avryl and her family
relocated to Wakefield, West Yorkshire, UK. |
